There’s little doubt that El Salvador’s transfer to make Bitcoin a authorized tender is historic. Many Bitcoiners like myself are enthusiastically fast to level out the positives of the mandate. But are there any penalties we have missed? Is there a darker facet to Bitcoin in El Salvador?

🍿 The Documentary:
This documentary follows my journey to El Salvador to look at the Bitcoin mandate going into impact. With a lot conflicting info on-line, it was vital for me to expertise myself and see what’s actually occurring. Here are a number of preliminary information to level out, to clear up any questions you might need:

1. Is Bitcoin truly required in El Salvador? I’ve heard it is elective.
Article 7 of the Bitcoin regulation requires, by mandate, all companies are required to simply accept Bitcoin as a type of fee. Thus, Bitcoin shouldn’t be elective.

2. But how is that completely different from US {dollars} within the United States?
The United States doesn’t mandate any type of fee. Businesses within the US are free to simply accept (or not settle for!) Yen, Peso, USD, and even Cryptocurrency. It is your freedom of alternative to simply accept no matter forex you need or don’t need.* This freedom shouldn’t be afforded to residents of El Salvador.
* The solely exception to that is debt.

3. Do you suppose general Bitcoin in El Salvador can be factor?
Economically? Most probably sure. However I’m weary of freedoms being stripped away from people in change of a promise of a greater monetary future — particularly if there isn’t any public oversight / unbiased committee / and so forth.

4. Is your objective of this documentary to make Bitcoin look dangerous?
In a method, my documentary has nothing to do with Bitcoin. There is nothing inherent or basic when it comes to Bitcoin that my documentary is important of. Choose any cryptocurrency, and the video would have probably been the very same. I like to recommend that every one who need my video put money into Bitcoin, as I imagine it may possibly result in generational wealth and cease irresponsible inflationary fiat printing.

5. Why did you pull the burning ottoman out of the hearth?
Because it felt like the fitting factor to do on the time. I’d nonetheless do it once more. I do not care the place I’m, if I see a chance to do one thing which I imagine to be morally proper, I’ll act.

6. Were you fearful you would be attacked by doing that?
I used to be fearful after that what I did might have been seen as a political act (which is was not), and felt like I ought to escape the nation at that second. As it seems the official El Salvador authorities praised my motion (although used it for example of me condemning “violent” protestors.) In truly, there was a small group of about 5 dangerous actors working collectively carrying masks. I used to be not scared in any respect.

Any extra questions, let me know within the feedback and I’ll add them right here.

During my time there, I spoke with supporters and opposition of Bitcoin, used the Chivo app in depth by means of a number of uncut reside streams, went to a number of Chivo ATMS, attended opposition rallys, and spoke with different influencers additionally there to doc the change.

I intend to return to El Salvador sooner or later and comply with up with a second documentary. If you’d wish to see that, please think about making a cryptocurrency donation right here: http://falzon.followers/

  1. Thank you for making this video! I like bitcoin cash more than BTC, but I think the lightning network adoption there is really cool. A little surprising thing to me is that the government allows people using non-custodial wallet for payment instead of limiting to the official chivo wallet to have control to people's money.

  2. 45 minute mark still watching.
I would send the link of your video(s) to my friend Ricardo. But he is one of those people who get mad if he hears the opposite of what he wants to hear, like many posters here. But there are others that have open minds and are OK with whatever you present. You could be on one side, the other, in the middle or on either side. So I won't send it to him. I'll enjoy it by myself.
    Nice, nice, done viewing.
What is needed here is teaching the people to get their own private wallet and invest if they want to.
    I'm subscribing. Thank you

  3. Starting to watch the video and don't feel sorry for those gangsters. Kill them all, everyone agrees. Ok keep watching…

  4. You need to upload this with spanish subtitles because most of the people here in El Salvador wouldn't understand all the content you're presenting

  5. Marc, I loved it. Always blown away with your quality from a production point 🔥. You are the only one out there doing real journalism on this topic. History will measure Tyrants implementing crypto and the free market. I do think Bitcoin will benefit Bukuele in the long term. It’s too bad a Tyrant will benefit from it.

  6. Dark side of Bcash more like. Salty Bcasher makes 1.5 hour passive-aggressive FUD video of Chivo wallet. Nit-picks and moans his way around El Salvador because they're using Bitcoin not his shitcoin. LOL 🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣

  7. Why are you using El Faro as a source when they are the opposition news haven't you heard how they have been involved on hiding and falsely acclaim stuff that Bukele has done.

  8. the protests stopped more than a month ago. The news is late … You don't know anything about the history of El Salvador or why we got to this point. That was very difficult. What happens if it goes wrong is nothing … I don't think so, what else do you have? bored

  9. I miss when documentaries were fair and not biased. As I watched your views, more and more flags arose. I do not have a journalistic background; my knowledge is based from having gone to school with the heirs to the 14 families. I lived in San Benito and never felt comfortable with the viewpoints of the 3%. Here is my analysis of what you reported:

2:04 President Bukele is extremely popular in ES. His polling ranges from 70-95%. As a 3rd party candidate, he won the presidential elections with 54% of the first round votes (no run-off). Unexpected and unheard of.

3:41 Bukele is extremely knowledgeable. However, the "Bukelazo" of Feb 9th, 2020 was a huge mis-step. I do understand that we was frustrated at the the opposition legislature not convening a quorum after 8 months to discuss financing his 'Plan Control Territorial' so ES could address the security of the nation. In an oversight of public relations, Bukele invited police and army to witness the inaction of the legislature. Outside thousands protested in favor of the president. After a short speech and prayer, Bukele left. Subsequently, the disapora remitted the $15M to purchase drones, night-vision goggles, bullet-proof vests, etc.

4:39 The 'shocking' images of the pandilleros are reminiscent of Obama's cages. Bukele has been recently criticized for negotiating secretly with gangs. Which is it? In fact the gangs complain of the 'mano dura' which has taken away their priviliges – no cell phones, no fiestas, cell blackouts, 1-hour free time, etc. Other inmates e.g. are learning trades.

5:28 To declare the removal of 5 chief justices as "spontaneous" shows bias. One of the reasons that Nuevas Ideas (Bukele's party) won 67% of the legislative votes in Feb 28, 2001 +12% from the coalition partner Gana, was that the electorate was frustrated with the opposition-stacked legislature. In ES, chief justices are not nominated for life; their removal was done in accordance to the Salvadoran constitution.

Similarly, the state attorney general was dismissed. The current US administration declared Bukele a dictator because he won the presidency and his party has a super majority in the legislature. He has the will of the people and unlike previous administrations is acting in their interest. To move ES forward he has to "clean house" and has the mandate to do so.

Part 2 – I will not comment on the remainder of the documentary as it followed in the same mis-informed manner.

Unfortunately, much of the 'half-news' is sourced from very few news agencies. The premier source for Salvadoran "news" is the discredited El Faro which feeds to Reuters then NYT, CNN, MSN, etc.

  10. Only Salvadorans who have been Oppressed by their corrupt government and high crimes generated by gangs which this 2 are 1 will understand and praise Nayibs behaviours. Can’t conclude for a 2 year term we must go back 40+ years.

El Salvador government has given poor kids who are in public school free computers to keep so they learn better and make education better, our crime rate has gone extremely down because of government now, more tourist are coming now that equals more money, and he built a whole new hospital in San Salvador. You forgot that part. Also, he is building new roads and highways. The one you went to go to zonte yeah that's new that he built. You really misleading and Isn't say the whole story. You sound like Fox and CNN right now. Stop deleting my comments. If you don't believe Google it.

  14. I really like the ending a lot, you acting like the government is going to get you and take you. This isn't the US chill. You were never in danger. Like you said the police and military didn't stop the protest because you have the right to protest not like in US where you protest and you will get shoot or thrown in jail. Yup. The US is definitely the land of the free.
